Buila Vanturarita National Park is the smallest and wildest national park in Romania, with an area of 45 km2, with a ridge 14 km long, dominated by the peaks of Vanturarita Mare (1885 m) and Buila (1849m). The park is known for its special exocarstic relief, from the particularly spectacular key sectors on the Bistria, Costesti, Cheia and Olanesti rivers, sinkholes, limestone cliffs, lapis lazuli fields, chimneys, needles, lathes, dry valleys, limestone debris, caves.
A point of attraction is the chain of places of worship, monasteries and hermitages that brought the Buila Vanturarita Massif the name of Roman Athos. The particularly varied flora and fauna is another attraction of the park. The unique element of the park is the Cheia Tunnel, next to Mount Stogu or the narrow path recommended only to professionals who provide access to Cabana Cheia and Cheile Cheii, probably the wildest in Romania, and the cave of caves.
Here are the most spectacular climbing routes, along with those in the Olanesti Gorges.
