Semenic National Park - Caraşului Gorges

Semenic National Park - Carasului Gorges has an area of ​​36,100.00 ha and is located in southwestern Romania, Caras Severin County, the northern part of the Anina Mountains and the eastern area of ​​the Semenic Mountains. The administrative-territorial units that are part of the park are: Resita, Carasova, Goruia, Anina, Bozovici, Prigor, Teregova, Valiug. The localities located at the extremities of the park are to the north Resita (Cuptoare neighborhood), to the south Bozovici (Poneasca settlement), to the east Teregova and to the west Garliste.

The national park is defined as a protected area managed especially for the protection of ecosystems and for recreation. It aims at the protection and conservation of representative samples for the national biogeographic space, including natural elements of special value in terms of physical-geographical, floristic, faunal, hydrological, geological, paleontological, speleological, pedological or other nature, offering the possibility to visit for scientific purposes. , educational, recreational and tourist.

It generally extends over large areas of land and includes ecosystems or fractions of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems as little as possible influenced by human activities. Overlapping the national park are two areas of European interest that are part of the Natura2000 Network since 2007, the year of accession to the European Union:
