Are you fascinated by explorers who investigate the mysteries of exotic ecosystems or are you simply curious to find out what an hour in the life of a tarantula looks like?
You don't have to wait for vacation or break your piggy bank to live the adventure of an explorer yourself. Come to the unique interactive workshop "Secret Life of Tarantulas, Worms and Insects", in the spectacular science museum Reptiland and be yourself a real "detective" of nature! Here you will find amazing things that you will observe directly, "live", like a true biologist.
Come to Reptiland Bucharest to experience the adventure yourself! You first have a one-hour excursion into this modern science museum. You will thus enjoy the exotic experience of true miniature ecosystems and you will be able to see dozens of exotic plant species and dozens of reptile species that live in large automated terrariums and vivariums that reproduce their natural habitat.
The adventure will not stop here, however, because at the end of the visit to the museum, the biologist beloved by children, Bogdan Matei, will be waiting for you, and for another hour you will live a unique experience.
Bogdan Matei will bring many surprises with him: spectacular insects and "worms" that you will be able to observe with your own eyes. Get ready to discover species you may not even have heard of: Brachypelma smithi (Mexican red-kneed tarantula), Gromphadorhina portentosa (Madagascar whistling beetle), Blaberus craniifer (deadhead beetle), Blaptica dubia (spotted potocalian beetle). , Zophobas morio ("superworm"), Tenebrio molitor ("mealworm").
You will find out how to keep a tarantula, how they live, what they eat and how tarantulas reproduce, but also a series of curiosities about their behavior.
You will also learn about the bizarre process that tarantulas go through when they grow: they are completely extracted from their own exoskeleton. After this molt, the new tarantula exoskeleton remains soft as a pancake. Why do they give birth, how do they prepare for this stage of their life, what are the risks of dying and how do they strengthen their new exoskeleton?
Bogdan Matei is a biologist with extensive field experience and author of scientific articles in specialized journals. He successfully combined the theoretical part learned in college with practice, getting involved in rescue, raising and releasing wild animals in need, both within the Bucharest Zoo and in his free time.
A unique workshop! Come and see for yourself!
